These Westerners moving to Russia

We hear a lot about Russians going to live in Europe. We hear much less about these Westerners who, for the past few years, have been settling in Russia.

Some are looking for a calmer lifestyle, others are fleeing Western bureaucracy, still others are attracted by the idea of adventure.

And then there's the famous "traditional values visa" — a funny name, but a real gateway.

Russia attracts because it offers a contrast: vast spaces, different pace of life, often lower cost of living.

It's not a massive trend, but it's a real phenomenon... and poorly understood. It would deserve to be studied without clichés.
