How Russians actually see Westerners IRL

Talk to people here and Westerners rarely come up as arrogant or complicated — more often as cultured, elegant and a bit mysterious.

A common image of the West here is romanticism, art cinema, long café conversations.

Some picture Westerners permanently mid-debate about politics or philosophy — and sometimes that lands.

What surprises people most is the relaxed side, sometimes very relaxed. The gap between media clichés and actual encounters is wide: up close, the impression is usually warm... and unpredictable.
